ABOUT US

The Beta Eta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., a not for profit 501(c)(3) organization, is governed by the members of the Oklahoma City Alumni Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and was established November 20, 1938. Our fraternity is dedicated to providing leadership development, community service, and academic excellence. We strive to uplift our communities and promote brotherhood among our members.

At Beta Eta Lambda, we believe in the importance of brotherhood and community service. Our mission is to develop leaders and promote academic excellence among our members, while also making a positive impact on the communities we serve. Through our various programs and initiatives, we strive to uplift and empower individuals and communities.

OUR HISTORY

January 1, 1938, not only marked the conclusion of the thirty-first (31st) Twenty-sixth General Convention, but the launch of the chartering process of Beta Eta Lambda Chapter in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Seven educated and highly trained Black community leaders began the arduous task of chartering a graduate chapter. At a meeting held in the offices of Bro. Dr. Gravelly E. Finley, Sr., at 200 N. Walnut information was gathered and stored until all requirements had been complied and forwarded to General Headquarters for final approval.

On Sunday, November 20, 1938, a ceremony was held that officially marked the chartering of Beta Eta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

The seven educated community leaders who chartered Beta Eta Lambda were:
Bro. Gravelly E. Finley, Sr., President, Bro. Joseph M. Littlepage, Sr., Vice President, Bro. William Johnson, Secretary, Bro. Alexander Dumas, Treasurer, Bro. Searcy Bailey, Sergeant-at-Arms, Bro. Lee Edwards Lewis, Member, Bro. Bennie Taylor, Member
